Studio Makeover
It took me almost six months to find an available bed number to upgrade with my single bed, which I have had since I was in kindergarten. And it took me almost a year to finally find time to move into my studio. Before moving, I managed all my business from our family dining room, in what would be best described as a parallel universe. Every surface at the top and bottom was covered with flowers, but if you look at the improvised shelves at the bottom and top, I squeezed into every air and space under the table, it was the dining room (and the piano room), that’s for sure. Looking for me was like the page “Where is Wally, Spring Edition”.
So finally the space to work out of the spare room was free – so free that, frankly, I had no idea what to do with so much space! I planned to get furniture for this room that would really fit – one of the reasons I opened a Pinterest account to keep track of all my inspiration – but I just didn’t have a chance to start work. So when Officeworks approached me to help create a new workspace for the new start of the fiscal year, I was so grateful for the extra hand. I chose very practical storage cubes, chairs (cute white, besides the fact that it fits nicely, designed to take my layouts), a corkboard to organize my inspiration (take yours!) and some colorful stationery to organize my notes and folders and maintain my inspiration. Can you believe that I just discovered desktop filing cabinets a month ago?
Despite the fact that there is still so much to do, the organized environment makes me feel more inspired than ever to achieve my business goals this year. And now, on the contrary, instead of a studio built above a dining table, there is a real studio, as well as a quiet room where my sister and I relax and take a break when possible. If you also made office makeup, I would love to see it.
